De wondere wereld van community art in Wittevrouwenveld

De afgelopen vijf weken heeft de Utrechtse theatermaker Paul Feld (Growing Up in Public) zich verdiept in de wondere wereld van community art in de Maastrichtse Volkswijk Wittevrouwenveld.

Tolhuistuinfestival

Zaterdag 4 en zondag 5 oktober 2008 vond de opening plaats van het derde Tolhuistuinfestival in Amsterdam-Noord.

In het onderzoek naar een nieuwe vorm van community theater binnen het project Leven met Verschillen, is Tessa op zoek naar de schoonheid van het allerdaagse.

Maartensdijk

Güner Güven wil met jongeren van jongerencentrum Sojos in Maatensdijk een mooie jongerentheater-voorstelling maken over het waarderen en beleven van de levens en ervaringen van de jonge bewoners uit deze toch vooral Hollandse, witte gemeente.

Lichaam en Ziel

Lichaam en Ziel wordt een theatervoorstelling, gebaseerd op interviews met vrouwen vanuit verschillende culturele achtergronden.

Eén gezicht

Anouk de Bruijn is afgestudeerd als docent drama/theatermaker aan de Hogeschool van de Kunsten Utrecht. Zij zal met vrouwen uit de wijken Lombok en Oog en Al een theaterproject uitvoeren.

Leven met verschillen

Leven met verschillen is een professionaliseringsprogramma voor vier pas afgestudeerde theatermakers die zich in community art willen bekwamen.

Drama workshops voor de zomer

Na de audities in februari is de drama workshop eind mei gestart met 7 meisjes en 1 jongen, elke maandagavond in theater de Kleine Berg van United C te Eindhoven.

Fanfare de Wetering daverend succes!

This project is a collaboration between the Utrecht School of the Arts, ZIMIHC (House of Amateur Art) and Kunstfactor (umbrella organization for Dutch amateur art). Its goal is to coach recent graduates from Dutch theatre academies who are interested in developing professional careers in community art.

We have finished editing a 35-minute video impression of the WHO CARES conference that took place on 20 September 2007. In this conference, professionals from the world of art, art therapy, social work and mental health care came together to look into each others’ kitchens and to explore possible ways of collaborating.

Offenders’ Theatre Symposium, Durban (SA) 10 - 14 March 2008

In March 2008, The Community Art Lab helped sponsor the participation of Rustom Bharucha in a symposium on offenders’ theatre held at the Westville Medium B Correctional Centre in Durban, South Africa. In the event, staff from the university of KwaZulu-Natal participated along with staff from the Department of Correctonal Services, international experts and male and female offenders and ex-offenders. The aim of the symposium was to generate a number of recommendations for integrating theatre arts in the personal development and rehabilitation of offenders. This report includes unique video footage.

International Community Arts Festival 2008

From 26 through 30 March 2008 the fourth edition of the International Community Arts Festival will take place in and around the Zuidplein Theatre in Rotterdam. In addition to theatre, the expanded festival will now also include other art disciplines like dance, music, visual arts and new media.

Between Past and Future: Re-imagining ‘our times’ in theatre today

In this presentation Rustom Bharucha reflects critically on the gap between past and future, he begins by asking a question - ‘where are we at this point of time?’ - posited at a juncture in time (the start of the ‘new millennium’), a moment of restructuring for Lift and a point of review and revaluation for himself. He evokes a journey with different paths taken, unpredictable and serendipitous; with divergence but also convergence.
