Last November, CAL organized a 4-day festival that featured community art performances from around the world, including artists from Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, Macedonia, Czech Republic, Croatia, France, Bosnia-Herzegovina and, of course, the Netherlands.

‘Whose Play is it Anyway? - Conference
During last November’s festival, CAL also organized a working conference on the question of ownership in community art processes. Under the banner ‘whose play is it anyway?’, we explored this question in the context of community-based theatre, creative partnerships with schools, modern dance and theatre in social settings, refugee centres, and prisons. On the last day of the conference, we also brought schools for the arts and commissioning organizations such as prison wardens, municipalities and housing corporations into the discussion.

The Community Art Lab (CAL)
