Crossroad Theatre Productions is a theatre and Development initiative based in Utrecht, The Netherlands. It uses its own methodology called IIPSI, which stands for Interdisciplinary, Interactive, and Participatory Storytelling Initiative. It is based on the notion that everything and everybody has a story to tell and it is in these stories that dreams, hopes, anxieties and fears are embodied. IIPSI employs different theatrical disciplines gathered from diverse, social, cultural and regional affiliations and presents them in an interactive manner that inspires practitioners and their audiences to participate fully while the main focus remains the understanding and communication of the targeted subject matter.
Since its foundation in 2000 Crossroad has produced many projects and programs. These have been developed in collaboration with various Dutch-based organisations such as Amnesty International, Royal Institute for the Tropics, Pax Christi, Plan Netherlands, Institute of Social Studies, Centre for Development Cooperation (COS), Theatre Embassy, the National Commission for Sustainable Development (NCDO), and the Dutch Ministry of Education. Internationally, Crossroad has collaborated with Cre8 East Africa, InterKunst in Berlin, Youth talent Advancement Program (Y-TAP) in Kenya, the Pan Centre for Intercultural arts in London, and the Council of International Folk Festivals (CIOFF).
